Dr. Dániel Lőwy is a certified chemist, senior research scientist, and university professor.
He currently serves as Scientific Director of the National Innovation Agency
(legal successor of Valor Hungariae),
and Research Professor at the Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Óbuda University.
He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the KEMPELEN Academy of Sciences Foundation.
Education
He earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry at
Babeș–Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca) in 1991,
followed by a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from
West Virginia University in 1996.
Academic and Research Career
Dr. Lőwy spent four years as a lecturer and later Assistant Professor at the
University of Memphis (Memphis, Tennessee).
Between 2000 and 2008, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the
U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, D.C.
He later served as Lead Electrochemist at BAE Systems.
From 2008 to 2010, he was affiliated with a research group associated with
Johns Hopkins University.
He subsequently joined FlexEl, LLC,
a University of Maryland spin-off company,
as Senior Research Scientist and Principal Investigator,
focusing on transforming university intellectual property into market-ready technologies.
Throughout his long teaching career, he has held faculty positions at several U.S. institutions,
including Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA / NVCC) in Alexandria, Virginia,
as Professor since 2005, as well as Associate Professor at
Montgomery College (Rockville, MD)
and Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Catonsville, MD.

He is a co-inventor of two registered U.S. patents,
one international patent, and five Romanian patents.
In addition to his interdisciplinary scientific research and public scientific activity,
Dr. Lőwy is also engaged in historical scholarship.
He has authored five monographs and numerous academic studies
published in Hungarian, English, German, and Romanian.
